The Irish Atypical Working Scheme is a new type of working scheme which will allow non- EEA nationals who will be coming to Ireland to work on short term basis (between 14 and 90 days). This Scheme will apply to you if:

• You will be employed in Ireland on a short term basis i.e. between 14 and 90 calendar days (inclusive);
• You will be employed on a trial basis (not exceeding 90 days inclusive of date of entry to the State) with the option to get a permanent position which is on the Highly Skilled List and apply for a work permit/ green card;
• You are a full time student, studying outside of Ireland and you would like to complete a paid internship in Ireland for up to 3 months.

This scheme will only apply to applicants who have been offered a position form an Irish-based employer. You may only lodge one Atypical Working Scheme application per calendar year. If you need to stay in Ireland longer, you may consider applying for an Irish work permit, green card or a study permit. The processing time for the permit under the Atypical Working Scheme is about 2-3 weeks. Once the permit is approved, you may also require a visa to enter Ireland, depending on your passport country. The visa processing time would depend on the relevant embassy’s processing times which can be up to 8 weeks.
